Best eSIM for a Greek Islands cruise

Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes, Crete — all on one plan, no Greek roaming fees. Here's the simplest island-hopping setup, plus the eSIM that works at sea.

The quick answer

One Greek (or Europe) plan covers the islands

Every Greek island runs on Greek mobile networks, so a single Greece — or wider Europe — eSIM covers Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes, Crete and Corfu on one plan, with no per-island faff. Buy it before you fly out to your embarkation port, then add a maritime GigSky pass for the short sea legs between islands.

Greek Islands cruise eSIM questions

Does one eSIM cover all the Greek islands?
Yes. You can buy a Greece-specific eSIM or a wider Europe plan — either covers Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes, Crete, Corfu and the rest, since they're all on Greek networks. A single plan ($4–$5 for the cruise's port days) beats buying anything locally. For the legs between islands, add a maritime GigSky pass.
Greece-only plan or a whole-Europe plan?
If every port is Greek, a Greece plan can be marginally cheaper. But many "Greek Islands" cruises also stop in Italy, Turkey or Croatia — in that case a Europe regional plan from Saily or Airalo covers the EU ports on one purchase. Check your itinerary, then pick the narrower plan only if it's truly Greece-only.
What about Turkish ports like Kuşadası or Istanbul?
Turkey is not always included in a "Europe" eSIM, and never in a Greece-only plan. If your cruise stops in Turkey, add a Turkey plan for that day or choose a Europe plan that explicitly lists Turkey. Don't assume your Greek plan reaches across the border.
Will I have signal in Santorini and Mykonos?
Yes — the popular islands have solid 4G/5G in town and at the main sights, so your Greek/Europe eSIM works normally ashore. Coverage can thin out on tiny or very remote islets, but the marquee ports are well served.
How much data for a Greek Islands cruise?
For port days of maps, photos and messaging, 0.3–0.7 GB/day is plenty for most people; you're offline at sea unless you choose otherwise. If you'll post lots of stories or video-call home from the islands, an unlimited Greece plan removes the worry.
Do I still need GigSky if I'm buying a port eSIM?
Only if you want data while the ship is sailing. The port eSIM covers you ashore; GigSky is what connects you mid-ocean. Many cruisers run both and toggle between them.
Should I buy before I leave home?
Yes — install and set up any cruise eSIM over WiFi before you sail, since activation needs internet you won't have cheaply once aboard. See the at-sea vs in-port guide.
